Prof. Dr. Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Zahari
PhD (UiTM) MA (Sheffield) BLitt (Hons), DipEd, PstgDipHRM (UKM)
Dr. Ibrahim was born on September 15th 1953, at Mambau, Negeri Sembilan. He received his primary education at Seri Menanti Primary School, Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan, while the secondary education was at Methodist Boys Secondary School, Jalan Davidson, Kuala Lumpur in 1975. He pursued his Bachelor of Letters with Honours and Diploma of Education concurrently in 1980 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Bangi, Selangor. He then furthers his Master of Arts in Management in 1982 at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. Later pursue his Postgraduate Diploma in Personnel Management in 1986 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He received his Doctor of Philosophy in Business Management in 2006 at Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam, Selangor.
Dr. Ibrahim has vast working experience in multinational corporations. He started his career in 1980 as Company Secretary with Associated Pan Malaysia Cement (now known as Lafarge Malaysia). In 1985 he worked with Matsushita Malaysia (now known as Panasonic Malaysia). Dr. Ibrahim work for both in Malaysia and Japan as a Chief Executive Officer/Director and Member of the Board of Matsushita Malaysia and Japan. Dr. Ibrahim was equipped with 35 years of working experience with British and Japanese multinational corporations. A pioneer member involved directly on infrastructure, operation, and management in Malaysia, as well as responsible for Matsushita Global Turn-Around Exercise in 1997 and 2007. The job cover wide spectrum on Human Capital Management and Organization Development in Malaysia and Japan.
Dr. Ibrahim is very active in social activities as Member of the Council (2012-2014), Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management, Malaysia. Member of the Senate (2008-2011), Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), Kuala Lumpur. Member of the External Assessor (2007) for Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Johor and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Terengganu. Member of the Skill Development Advisory Board (2000-2005) for Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia, and Japanese Chamber of Trade Industry Malaysia. At UKM, Dr. Ibrahim was Member of the Board (1997-2000) (Lembaga Pengarah Universiti), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Member of the Board (1997-2000) Pertubuhan ALUMNI (Founder Member), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Member of the Court (Ahli Jumaah) (1992-1993), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. And also Member of the Student Representative Council (1979-1980) when he was a student at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia then.
Dr. Ibrahim started his academic venture as early as 2006 after obtaining his PhD from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam. He started lecturing with Graduate Business School, UKM, and Putra Business School, UPM. He was a Professor of Strategic Human Resource Management with Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and later with Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNIRAZAK), Kuala Lumpur. Dr. Ibrahim was also invited by both local and private universities to give a talk and lecture as a visiting professor on Human Capital Management, Organizational Behavior, Cross-cultural Management, and Japanese Management Philosophy. He is an external examiner and supervisor for PhD, DBA, MSc and MBA students for Universiti Malaya, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Multimedia Cyberjaya and Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
On the area of Academic Research and Publication, Dr. Ibrahim published a book entitle Cross-Cultural Management: A Malaysian Perspective. Cengage Learning Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore, 2013. And a chapter in the book entitled Mixed Methods Research in Practice: Real Examples of Papers Presented in Academic, Conferences and Published in Journals, 2014, Thailand. He has published volume of research articles in International Journals, Conference and Proceeding.
Professor Dr. Haji Ibrahim bin Haji Zahari is now attached with Asia-e-University, Kuala Lumpur as Academic Fellow.
